Answer: He drove 120 miles each way

Step-by-step explanation:

Speed = Distance/Time

Since the distance in both ways is same, we take it as x.

Case 1 : 60 = x/t                                                      - (1)

Case 2: 40 = x/(t+1)                                                 - (2)

From 1 and 2

60t = 40(t+1)

20t = 40

T = 2 Hrs

Putting the value in (1)

x = 60 X 2

  = 120 Miles

You can check the answer by putting the values in (1) and (2)

Answer:

120

Step-by-step explanation:

d=s×t & here each side distance is same

60 × x = 40 ( x + 1)

60x - 40x = 40 => 20x = 40 => x = 2

he drive 60 ×x = 60×2 =120 miles each way .
