Avogadro calculated the formula of camphor by mean of elemental chemical analysis & by measuring the density of its vapour. Avagadro found the density to be 3.84 g/L when he made the measurement at 210 C & 1atm pressure . what of the following is correct formula of camphor ?

Pressure is one atm and temperature is 25 + 273.15 = 298.15 K One cm3of solid carbon dioxide has a mass of 1.56 g. The molar mass of carbon dioxide is 44 g/mole. Therefore one cm3of carbon dioxide has (1.56 g)/(44 g/mole) = 3.545 x 10-2moles. From the ideal gas law V = nRT/P = (3.545 x 10-2moles)(0.082 atm-liter/mole-K)(298.15 K)/(1 atm) = 0.8667 liters

Answer:

Pressure is 1atm . T=210+273=483. Density =3.84g/L .applyyinng pm =drt.we get m=drt/p .m=162. So camphor is c10h16o
