Pollution under control (PUC) is a certification mark that is issued to certify if the motor vehicles in India meet the pollution and emission control norms, under Section 2 (28) of The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.

The PUC certificate comes at a price after testing the vehicles and is valid for up to 6 months. Awareness about a mandatory PUC certificate can be created in the public by organizing centers’ and campaigns with the help from various government departments like Department of Transport, Department of Environment and Food & Supply along with the Traffic Police so that vehicular pollution can be mitigated.

Also, it would be easier for the individuals to apply for a mandatory PUC certificate at fuel-filling stations so that they can avoid the hassles of going to a government office to complete the formalities
