ax + by = 6           ----------------------(i)
bx + ay = 7           ----------------------(ii)

Multiply (i) with a and (ii) with b

a²x + aby = 6a           ------------(iii)
b²x + aby = 7b           ------------(iv)

Subtract (iv) from (iii)

(a²-b²)x  = 6a-7b
       x     =  6a - 7b 
                   a² - b²

Multiply (i) with b and (ii) with a

abx + b²y = 6b            ----------------(v)
abx + a²y = 7a           -----------------(vi)

Subtract (vi) from (v)

(b²-a²)y = 6b-7a
        y   =  6b - 7a 
                  b²-a²
