Azure File Storage data can be accessed from an on-premises application using the Azure File Storage API only.

This is because Azure Files makes it less complicated to “life and shift” packages to the cloud that use on-premise file stocks to percentage facts between parts of the application. To make this happen, each VM connects to the file share and then it is able to read and write files much like it'd in opposition to an on-premise file share.
