Answer: 49/8 or 6.125 m²

Step-by-step explanation: He used 3/7 yellow and 1/2 of the rest green.

So the remaining is 1 - 3/7 = 4/7 and half of it is 2/7.

Red = 1 - 2/7 - 3/7 = 2/7

Let the surface area of wall be x.

So,

2x/7 = 1¾ m²

2x/7 = 7/4 m²

x = 49/8 m² = 6.125 m²

Answer:

LET THE TOTAL SURFACE AREA OF THE WALL BE xm²

YELLOW PAINT = 3/7 of x = 3x/7

GREEN PAINT = 1/2 of ( x - 3x/7) = 2x/7

RED PAINT = X- {1/2 of ( x - 3x/7)} = 5x/7

SURFACE AREA OF THE WALL COVERED IN RED PAINT = 7/4m²

eq =

x = 3x/7 + 2x/7 + 5x/7

x = 3x/7 + 2x/7 + 7/4    { 5x/7 = 7/4}

x = 5x/7 + 7/4

x - 5x/7 = 7/4

7x/7 - 5x/7 = 7/4

2x/7 = 7/4

x  = 49/8 = 6.125m²

HENCE, THE AREA OF THE WALL IS 6.125m²
