Algebrically.

it can be done by elimination method.

3x+y = 2......(1)

4x-7y= 3......(2)

(1)×4=12x+4y=8......(3)

(2)×3=12x-21y=9......(4)

(3) - (4)

=12x + 4y = 8....(3)

12x - 21y = 9....(4)

....................................

= -17y = -1

y = -1/-17

y = 1/17

now, put y=1/17 in (1)...

= 3x + 1/17 = 2

= 17(3x) + 1/17 = 2

= 51x +1/17 = 2

= 51x + 1 = 2×17

= 51x + 1 = 34

= 51x = 34-1

= 51x = 33

= x = 33/51

= 11/17

... Hence..,

x = 11/17

& y = 1/17
