the point a is on y-axis

it's abscisa is 0

so a= (x1 y1)= (0, 5)

and b= (x2, y2) = (-3,1 )

AB = √(x2-x1) ² + (y2-y1) ²

= (-3 -0)² + (1-5)² =√25

= 5 units
