(B) According to a survey, more than sixty per cent students are under stress and suffer from depression. The newspapers are full of such stories where the students have taken to drugs just to combat the stress. They feel isolated and dejected. It appears that they are fighting against the odds of life. Subject: Increase in the amount of stress faced by the students

Sir,

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to draw your attention toward the stress faced by the students appearing for exams and the aftermath of it.

As exams are nearing, the stress level in a candidate keeps on increasing. On top of that, the parents and family members have a high expectation from the student pushing him or her into deep pressure. The faculty of the school/college and the friend circle also expects a lot from them. Due to all of this constant pressure, the students are unable to concentrate on the main topic and their mind keeps on drifting off to the outcomes of their exams and the reaction of the people fit hey scored less than the expectations.

As these activities are common every year in a student's life before appearing for an exam, The stress level also pushes them down to extreme measures such as self-harm and unfortunately, suicide. Usually, high expectations from the family lead to constant nagging about perfection and comparison which the other people. If the marks are not as high as expected it pushes the student into depression and anxiety.

The people around the student should know more and should stop "Expecting" and should start "Encouraging". The student must be always reminded that no matter what the result is he/she should always put in all of their efforts. Encouraging talks between the family and no comparison with the neighbor's son will eventually lead to a calm mind of the candidate appearing for the exam and he/she then has hopes of scoring better.

I hope that this problem will be bought into notice an article regarding this topic will be published in your newspaper.

Yours Sincerely

Natasha
