Given:

Average weight of the 8 boxes gets increased by 2.5 kg when weight of one of the boxes is increased.

To Find:

Increased weight of the box.

Solution:

Let the avg weight of 8 boxes=x

∴ Total weight of 8 boxes = 8x

After adding the weight of one of the boxes, new average= x+2.5

∴New weight  =8(x+2.5)

                        =8x+20

∴ weight added = new weight- old weight

                           =8x+20-8x

                           =20

Hence the weight added is 20 kg.
