A
(a) Name and define the phenomenon shown
in this experiment.
(b) In the above figure, two kinds of molecules
are shown: larger and smaller. Mention
which molecules are of the solute and
which are of solvent?
(C) If all the bigger molecules in A are
enclosed in a permeable membrane, what

Answer:

(a) The phenomenon shown in this experiment is Deflocculation.

Deflocculation is defined as the process of dispersion of an aggregate to form a stable colloid. It can be simply stated as the reverse of coagulation/flocculation.

(b) Smaller molecules are of solvent and larger molecules are of solute.

(c) If bigger molecules are enclosed in a permeable membrane, the nature of the movement will be passive transport, that is, diffusion.

Explanation:

A = Diffusion is the movement of molecules from higher concentration to the region of their lower concentration .

B = Solute = Larger molecules

Solvent = smaller molecules

C = Passive transport will be the nature of movement of molecules which will not allow molecules to move across membrane .

Hope it helps you :-)
