Given :

  • Potential difference = 6V
  • Two resistors (in series) = 2Ω each

To find :

  • Current flowing in the circuit

Solution :

Since the resistors are connected in series , therefore the equivalent resistance is given by the sum of individual resistances .

\rm R_{eq} = R_1 + R_2

= 2 + 2

= 4 Ω

Now , the value of equivalent resistance is 4 Ω and the potential difference is 6 V .

Using Ohm's law , the current flowing in the circuit is given by :

I = V/R

I = 6/4

I = 1.5 A

Therefore , the current flowing through the circuit is 1.5 A .

The rate of flow of charge per unit time is called current . It is a scalar quantity with SI unit Ampere denoted by A .

The work done to bring a charge from one point to another is called potential difference . Its SI unit is Volt denoted by V .

The inherent property of a matter to oppose the flow of charge in itself is called resistance . Its SI unit is Ohm denoted by Ω.

Ohm's law states that the potential difference across a conductor is directly proportional to the current flowing in it and the ratio of potential difference to current is always a constant called resistance .
