b) Differentiate between parenchyma, collenchyma and
sclerenchyma on the basis of arrangement of cells
Answers
Answer:
Parenchyma has a thin cell wall of their cells, and are made up of cellulose. Whereas collenchyma cells have an uneven cell wall made up of pectin and hemicellulose. There is a hard and thick cell wall present of the sclerenchyma cells, which is made up of the lignin.
Parenchyma Tissues:
*Unspecialised cells
*Thin cell walls
*Live cells
*Loosely packed
*Large spaces between cells
Collenchyma Tissue:
*Allows easy bending in various parts of a plant
*Provides Mechanical Support
*Cells are living, elongated
*Very little intermolecular space between the cells.
*Irregularly thickened at the corner
Sclerenchyma Tissue:
*Makes plant hard and stiff
*Cells of tissues are dead
*Long and narrow as the walls are thickened due to lignin
*No internal space between the cells.
*Provides strength to plants
