Activity to prove light is required for photosynthesis

(I'm not gonna type it formally)

Erm cover some part of a leaf of a plant with black tape and make sure to keep it in a place which has proper conditions for photosynthesis. After a few days, take that taped leaf and one another leaf and perform the starch test.

We will observe that the leaf with the black tape will not have any starch whereas the other leaf will have produced starch.

This above experiment proves that light is necessary for photosynthesis.

Aim-

Activity to show the necessity of sunlight in photosynthesis.

Procedure-

1) Take a plant with destarched leaf.

2) Leaf is partially covered with black paper on which a design is cut.

3) Expose this plant to sunlight for few hours and perform a starch test with iodine soution.

Observation-

covered leaf part shows brown colourations

exposed leaf shows blue-black colour.

Result-

starch is present in the exposed leaf.

conclusion-

leaf exposed to sunlight give iodine test, providing that sunlight is necessary for photosynthesis
