Given :

  • Father's age is 5 years more than four times Son's age.
  • If the sum of their ages is 55 years.

To Find :

  • Present Ages of Son and Father .

Solution :

\longmapsto\tt{Let\:Age\:of\:Son\:be=x}

As Given that Father's age is 5 years more than four times Son's age. So ,

\longmapsto\tt{Age\:of\:Father=4x+5}

A.T.Q :

\longmapsto\tt{x+4x+5=55}

\longmapsto\tt{5x+5=55}

\longmapsto\tt{5x=55-5}

\longmapsto\tt{5x=50}

\longmapsto\tt{x=\cancel\dfrac{50}{5}}

\longmapsto\tt\bf{x=10}

Value of x is 10 ..

Therefore :

\longmapsto\tt{Present\:Age\:of\:Son=x}

\longmapsto\tt\bf{10\:yrs}

\longmapsto\tt{Present\:Age\:of\:Father=4(10)+5}

\longmapsto\tt\tt{40+5}

\longmapsto\tt\bf{45\:yrs}
