Solution :-

we know that,

  • Opposite sides of a parallelogram are equal in length .

so, from image we get,

→ y = - x + 7

→ x + y = 7 ----------- Eqn.(1)

also, given that,

→ 4x + 2y = 24 ----------- Eqn.(2)

Multiply Eqn.(1) by 2 and subtracting the result from Eqn.(2) ,

→ (4x + 2y) - 2(x + y) = 24 - 2 * 7

→ 4x - 2x + 2y - 2y = 24 - 14

→ 2x = 10

→ x = 5 .

putting value of x in Eqn.(1) , we get,

→ 5 + y = 7

→ y = 7 - 5

→ y = 2 .

Hence, value of x is 5 and y is equal to 2.
