Elements:

1) An element is a pure chemical substance made of same type of atoms.

2) An element is represented using symbols.

3) Elements contain only one kind of atom .

Ex- Hydrogen , Oxygen.

Compounds:

1) A compound contains atoms of different elements chemically combined together in a fixed ratio.

2) A compound is represented using chemical formula .

3) Compound contains different elements in a fixed ratio arranged in a defined manner through chemical bonds.

Ex- Water (H20) , Sodium chloride (NaCl)
