Explanation,

We know that,

f(x) = ax² + bx + c

f(1) = 4 , f(2)= 7 , f(3) = 10

⇒ f(1) = a + b + c = 4 ____(1)

⇒ f(2) = 4a + 2b + c = 7 _____(2)

⇒f(3) = 9a + 3b + c = 10 _____(3)

Subtracte eqn. (2) & (1), we get ;

⇒ 3a + b = 3 _____(4)

Subtracte eqn. (3) & (2) , we get ;

⇒ 5a + b = 3 ______(5)

From qn. (5) & (4) ,

5a + b = 3

3a + b = 3

- - - (Substrate)

_______

2a = 0

a = 0

Put a = 0 in eqn. (4),

⇒ 3 × 0 + b = 3

⇒ 0 + b = 3

⇒ b = 3 - 0

b = 3

Put a = 0 , b = 3 in eqn. (1),

⇒ 0 + 3 + c = 4

⇒ 3 + c = 4

⇒ c = 4 - 3

c = 1

Now,

⇒ f(-10) = 0 × (-10)² + 3 × (-10) + 1

⇒ f(-10) = -30 + 1

f(-10) = -29

Hence,

The value of f(-10) is -29.
