Answer:
precautionary measures : Avoid all low-lying places because lava flows and mudflows are more likely to pass them. Seek cover in case of ash falls rock falls. Use masks and cover your mouth and nose to avoid breathing in ashes.

If we have chosen to stay in a place near a volcano, then the following precautionary measures should be remembered -
Precautions :
- We have to avoid such locations, where the lava flow has been observed (eg. low lying places) in the past. Based on past experiences the house should be made in such a place that is away from the normal path of the lava flow (in case of a volcanic eruption).
- The house should be made in such a way, that it can withstand the minor (or, major) consequences of a volcanic eruption.
- We should protect ourselves from the harmful gases and ashes, of the volcano. These are extremely harmful to health.
- There should be multiple (in different directions) exit doors in a house, this will help to evacuate the home if necessary.
- A fire extinguishing system should be kept in the house.
- One should listen to the news daily, to get information about the upcoming volcanic eruption. If there's any news of upcoming volcanic eruptions, it is always preferable to leave that place until the volcanic activity comes to an end. Otherwise, necessary items should be stored in advance to withstand the upcoming natural hazard.
- One should immediately contact emergency services, in hazardous situations.
- At last, one should stay calm while dealing with a hazardous situation. And, the highest priority should be given to saving lives (human beings, animals, etc.).
Thus, precautionary measures have been discussed.
