Let the time taken by B alone to complete the work be m days.

Now time taken by A to complete half of the work will be m / 6 days.

Therefore work done by B for one day will be 1/m

So total will be 3/m + 1/m = 1/10

                            4 / m = 1/10

                         Or m = 40 days.

So B alone will do the work in 40 days
