फंगस से संक्रमित होने वाले व्यक्ति को दो दिनों तक इलाज न मिलने पर उसकी आँखों की रोशनी जाने के साथ-साथ उसकी मौत भी हो सकती है.
दिल्ली के सर गंगाराम अस्पताल में ब्लैक फंगस इंफ़ेक्शन यानी म्यूकॉरमाइकोसिस बीमारी का सबसे पहला मामला दर्ज किया गया है.
इसके साथ ही दिल्ली के मैक्स, अपोलो, और फ़ोर्टिस जैसे कई अस्पतालों में भी ब्लैक फंगस के मरीज़ पहुँचना शुरू हो चुके हैं, जिनमें से कई मरीज़ों की मौत भी हो चुकी है.
