(i) The saving percentage of Mrs Gurung is equal to 40 %.

(ii) The monthly income of Mrs Gurung is equal to Rs. 20,600.

(iii) Mrs Gurung spends Rs. 12,360 in a month.

Given:

Mrs Gurung spends 60 % of her monthly income.

The monthly savings of Mrs Gurung = Rs.8,240

To Find:

(i) Her saving percentage.

(ii) Her monthly income.

(iii) Her monthly spending.

Solution:

(i) Calculating the saving percentage of Mrs Gurung:

Mrs Gurung spends 60 % of her monthly income.

   ∴ The saving percentage of Mrs Gurung = 100 - 60 = 40 %

(ii) Calculating the monthly income of Mrs Gurung:

Let the monthly income of Mrs Gurung be 'x'.

The monthly savings of Mrs Gurung = Rs.8,240

The saving percentage of Mrs Gurung = 40 %

                    ∴ (8240/x) × 100 = 40

                    ∴ 40(x) = 824000

              ∴ x = (824000)/40 = Rs. 20,600

The value of 'x' comes out to be equal to Rs. 20,600.

Therefore the monthly income of Mrs Gurung is equal to Rs. 20,600.

(ii) Calculating the monthly spending of Mrs Gurung:

The monthly income of Mrs Gurung = Rs. 20,600

The monthly savings of Mrs Gurung = Rs.8,240

The monthly spending of Mrs Gurung = 20,600 - 8240 = Rs. 12,360

Therefore Mrs Gurung spends Rs. 12,360 in a month.

Therefore the saving percentage of Mrs Gurung is equal to 40 %. The monthly income of Mrs Gurung is equal to Rs. 20,600. Mrs Gurung spends Rs. 12,360 in a month.
