Solution :

In this question, time is given in mixed fraction, so firstly we will convert them into improper fraction after that we will substract the total time spent for studies and time given to tamil , Mathematics and Science to get the time given to other subjects.

Converting time into improper fraction :

• Total time given to studies = 5 1/2
• Total time given to studies = 5 × 2 + 1/2
• Total time given to studies = 10 + 1/2
• Total time given to studies = 11/2 hours

• Time given to Tamil , Mathematics and Science = 3 1/4
• Time given to Tamil , Mathematicsand Science = 3 × 4 + 1/4
• Time given to Tamil , Mathematics and Science = 12 + 1/4
• Time given to Tamil , Mathematics and Science = 13/4 hours

Finding time given to other subjects :

• Time given to other subjects = Total time given to studies - Time given to Tamil , Mathematics and Science
• Time given to other subjects = 11/2 - 13/4

Taking LCM of denominator :

• LCM of 2 and 4 = 2 | 2 , 4
• LCM of 2 and 4 = 2 | 1 , 2

• Time given to other subjects = 11 × 2/2 × 2 - 13 × 1/4 × 1
