One may not agree with the usage of “playing” in this photo, which alludes to the shift this generation has experienced in regards to leisure, play, and activity. The photo shows several cartoon- styled children who are enamored by the variety of devices they all possess. In the background is a playground, and in front of the children reads a sign: “Caution-Children Playing”. A sign which previously prevented children from being injured while playing with each other or on the playground now stands idle, as the children maneuver through apps on their devices. The viewer may appreciate the shift this generation has faced, and appreciate the advancements, but I believe many viewers will establish a sense of irony and even sadness when viewing this brilliant cartoon. This is a very illuminating example of how social media has affected the livelihood and tendencies of youth today.
