Explanation:

When the raisins are put in salt water for some time, they shrink.

This is because of Osmosis.

The concentration of water inside the raisins is more than the concentration of water outside the raisins, that is, in the salt solution. According to the principal of Osmosis, water moves from an area of higher water concentration to that of lower water concentration. So, water moves out of the raisins. This causes the raisins to shrink and decrease in size. So, the cause of this change is Exosmosis ( Outward osmosis ).
