(b) The following equation represents the equilibrium in the Contact process.
25O2(g) + O2(g) = 2503(g)
Oxygen is supplied from the air.
The composition of the reaction mixture is 1 volume of sulfur dioxide to 1 volume of oxygen.

Answer:

is known that  air consists of 78% nitrogen(N2), 21% oxygen(O2) and 1 % other gases and water vapour.

⇒ So it can be concluded that for every 100 ml of air contains 10021×100=21  ml of oxygen

⇒ 21 ml of oxygen is present in 100 ml of air.

⇒ 1 ml of oxygen will be present in 21100 ml of air

⇒ 1000 ml will be present in  21100×1000=4761ml=4.76L of air.                                              [1dm3=1000ml=1L]

∴4.76 litres of air contains 1dm3 of oxygen.
