The leaves of floating plants have chlorophyll on the upper side of the leaves.

Plants that grow in water are called Aquatic Plants. They are four types Floating plants, fixed plants, underwater plants and emergent plants.

Plants that float on water are called Floating plants.

  • These plants have thick, light and spongy stems that are filled with air so that the plants can float.

  • Floating plants do not have fixed roots. Their roots hang loosely in water. These roots absorb nutrients directly from the water.

  • The stomata of these plants are found on the upper side of the leaves.

  • Water hyacinth and Duckweed are some examples of floating plants.
