Step-by-step explanation:

given,

perimeter= 80

let the length be l

let the breadth be b

now,

perimeter= 80

2(l+b)=80

l+b=40

l= 40-b

area =l×b

on decreaseing length by 2 m

and its breadth is increased by 2

l= l-2

b=b+2

new area = new l×new b

lb+36=(l-2)(b+2)

lb+36=lb+2l-2b-4

36+4=lb-lb+2l-2b

40=2l-2b

40= 2(l-b)

20= l-b

on putting value of l=40-b

20= 40-b-b

-20= -2b

10=b

l=40-b

l=40-10

l=30

hence lenght is 30 and breadth is 10
