B. Think and answer.
Would you like it if you have two mouths? Why?
Answers
It is a little known fact that people _do_ have two mouths, one controlled by the brain and one, the ore paulo, situated on the lumbar spine, controlled by a smaller neural mass which is an outgrowth of the spinal cord. Because of the common habit in humans of clothes-wearing, and the location of the secondary mouth in an area not seen by its bearer, its presence has been largely overlooked, misunderstood, or denied.
What is the purpose of the secondary mouth, and at what point in human evolution did it arise? Fossil evidence, though scarce, seems to suggest that it evolved about a million years after the hominid line branched off from the great apes. It is still debated what environmental conditions supported its development, and various theories have been put forward as to its function, but it is clear that it is in decline, having peaked in size and apparent efficiency in the mid-Pliocene. In modern humans it is considered a rudimentary organ, though research continues into the question.
