Answer :

Osmosis - The movement of water molecules through a selectively permeable membrane (e.g., plasma membrane) from a region of higher water concentration to a region of lower water concentration is called osmosis.

In plant and animal cells, movement of water molecules across the plasma membrane is affected by the amount of substances dissolved in water. Water molecules move freely in and out of the plasma membrane from a region of their higher concentration to a region of lower concentration, i.e., from dilute solution to a concentrated solution.

Also, Osmosis is the diffusion of free water molecules across a Semipermeable membrane.

DIFFUSION - Diffusion is the spontaneous movement of particles of a substance in a gas or liquid form from a region of its higher concentration to a region of its lower concentration until uniform concentration is achieved at both ends. In diffusion molecules move along concentration gradient and no energy is required.

Also, Diffusion of a substance across a biological membrane from the region of its higher concentration to the region of its lower concentration is called Passive transport.

Anonymous: water is more in the external environment of a cell, so osmosis helps the water to reach the internal of cell. So in this case it is from region of higher concentration to the region of lower concentration
