1. Valency is the combining power of an element. Elements in the same group of the periodic table have the same valency. The valency of an element is related to how many electrons are in the outer shell.

2. Valence electron is simply the total number of electrons present in outermost shell of an atom. Valency is the number of electrons an atom looses,gains or shares with other atoms in order to get a stable configuration.
