b) What is the remainder when x^4 + 4x^3+ 2x^2 - 4x + 6 is divided by

Answer:

Let P(x) = x⁴+4x³+2x²-4x+6

By remainder theorem,

if x-2 is dividing then x-2 = 0 = x =2

P(2) = 2⁴+4(2³)+2(2²)-4(2)+6

P(2) = 16+32+8-8+6

P(2) = 54.

hence the remainder is 54.
