Life ends without Water

The Sharma household lived in a crowded quarter in Old Delhi. They were fourteen of them. Great grandparents, parents, uncles and aunts and six boisterous kids. People often mistook their house for a menagerie.

The greatest problem with the Sharmas was that they never believed in the saying 'Waste not want not'.

They never switched off lights and fan when not in use, the taps were always running even if there were no buckets to fill. The Municipality people were tired of warning them that their water supply would be cut off if they did not use water economically. But all fell on deaf ears.

Then came the nasty scorching summer of 2018 and along with it came a strict Mayor. An acute water crisis began and people were asked to ration water. The Mayor himself went out on vigil to check the usage of water. Every household obeyed MeLord except the feather headed Sharmas. Like the previous years they ignored the Mayor and his orders.

Th Mayor was furious and immediately ordered all water connections to the Sharma's snapped off. The following dawn no longer witnessed the overflow of water. There was no water in fact. The Sharmas were at their wits end. Not a drop of water sipped through the taps. There was no water anywhere. Each member had to walk miles to the river side with buckets and cans. It was only then that they realised their mistake and they realized the importance of water.
