Major commodities distributed include staple food grains, such as wheat, rice, sugar and kerosene, through a network of fair price shops (also known as ration shops) established in several states across the country.
It is an system in India which is for distributing food to poor people in India. The farmers sell their crop harvest to the government at cheap rates, which is then given in ration shops and is used in emergencies like famines or is dropped in foop packets during floods or natural calamities.
