I know why the caged birds sings depict the life and struggles of black of African American people at that time through the comparison of those people with the caged birds who only knows sorrow and pain on the other hand the white Americans are compared to free birds who are allowed to roam freely settle anywhere live freely and with a sense of freedom while the caged bird does not share much of a fraction of that freedom as it is shown that its wings are clipped and the movement is thus restricted. It also cries for help but nobody comes to help it but the bird does not get discouraged and still has hope and keeps crying for help much like the Black Americans did at that time
