Answer:

Though there are many more good bacteria than bad, some bacteria are harmful. If you consume or come in contact with harmful bacteria, they may reproduce in your body and release toxins that can damage your body's tissues and make you feel ill.

Answer:

There are two ways bacteria can harm the human body:

toxicity – the bacteria produce toxins which damage specific tissues in the body

invasiveness – the bacteria multiply rapidly at the site of infection and overwhelm the body’s defence mechanisms. The bacteria may then spread to other parts of the body.

Actively growing bacteria reproduce by binary fission (dividing into two equal parts). Binary fission can occur every 15 minutes. Under ideal conditions, a single bacterium with a mass of a ten millionth of a gramme could produce millions of bacteria with a mass of 8 billion tonnes in just 24 hours! Fortunately, conditions are never ideal. Lack of oxygen, lack of nutrients and the accumulation of metabolites limits the reproduction of bacteria.
