Blue green algae or cyanobacteria are photosynthetic bacteria and produces harmful toxins when grows as cover over the water bodies and are called harmful algal bloom. They are produced due to enrichment of water bodies by fertilizers rich in phosphorous and nitrogen. Toxins produced are harmful for organism in water body and for drinking purposes.
