Bakery baking powder was not added while preparing cake the cakeobtained was hard and small in size what is the reasons for this

when baking powder is added to a cake it produces CO2 making the cake bigger and softer.When baking powder is added it rises the cake to some extent making the cake bigger and spongier.

When baking powder is added to it , it becomes much bigger and much softer than before....Cake also become spoungious than before....
