Bal Bharti Vidyalaya is located in Karauli district of Rajasthan. The school decided to go for plantation drive on the occasion of VANMAHOTSAVA. It was decided that the number of trees, that each section of each class will plant, will be the same as the class in which they are studying, e.g., a section of Class I will plant 1 tree, a section of Class II will plant 2 trees and so on, till Class X. There are five sections of each class. Ms. Anshu Sharma, Principal of the Vidyalaya asked forest department to provide plants for Vanmahotsava.
(A) How many plants were needed for plantation by all sections of class IV?

Solution:

There are five sections of each class.

a section of Class I will plant 1 tree,

5 sections of Class I will plant 5 x 1 = 5 tree,

a section of Class 2 will plant 2 tree,

5 sections of Class 2 will plant 5 x 2  = 10  tree,

5 sections of Class 4 will plant 5 x 4  = 20  tree,

20 is the correct answer

20 plants were needed for plantation by all sections of class IV

Total Plants required

= 5 ( 1 + 2 + 3 + ......................+ 9 + 10)

= 5 x 10 x 11/2

= 25 x 11

= 275

275 plants to be provided by forest department
