Balance the following equations after writing them as molecular equations :

a) Sodium + Nitrogen -> Sodium nitride

\sf{6Na+N_2-->2Na_3N}

b) Aluminum + Chlorine -> Aluminum chloride

\sf{2Al+3Cl_2-->2AlCl_3}

c) Iron (III) oxide + Hydrogen ->Iron + Water

\sf{Fe_2O_3+3H_2-->2Fe+3H_2O}

d) Phosphorous + oxygen -> Phosphorus pentoxide

\sf{4P+5O_2-->2P_2O_5}

e) Tri-lead tetra oxide -> Lead monoxide + Oxygen

\sf{2Pb_3O_4-->6PbO+O_2}

AnswEr:

a). Sodium + Nitrogen \longrightarrow Sodium nitride

★ Sodium combines with nitrogen to form sodium nitride.

\red{\sf{6Na\:+\:N_{2} \longrightarrow 2Na_{3} N}}

b). Aluminum + Chlorine \longrightarrow Aluminium chloride

★ Aluminium combines with chlorine to form aluminium chloride.

\red{\sf{2Al\:+\:3Cl_{2} \longrightarrow 2AlCl_{3}}}

c). Iron (III) oxide + Hydrogen \longrightarrow Iron + Water

★ Iron oxide combines with hydrogen to form iron and water.

\red{\sf{Fe_{2} O_{3} + 3H_{2} \longrightarrow 2Fe + 3H_{2} O}}

d). Phosphorus + oxygen \longrightarrow Phosphorus pentoxide

★ Phosphorus combines with oxygen to form phosphorus pentoxide.

\red{\sf{4P + 5O_{2} \longrightarrow 2P_{2} O_{5}}}

e). Tri - lead tetra oxide \longrightarrow Lead monoxide + oxygen

★ Tri - lead tetra oxide decomposes to form lead monoxide and oxygen.

\red{\sf{2Pb_{3} O_{4} \longrightarrow 6PbO + O_{2}}}
