Additional information -
For balance the equation by using oxidation number method steps are :-
Step 1 -
- Calculate the oxidation number of all compound or element present in the reaction.
Step 2 -
- See that which compound or element is oxidising or reducing.
Step 3 -
- Give the number by which the compound or element is oxidising or reducing.
Step 4 -
- Make the both number equal by multiplying some digit, if required.
Step 5 -
- If Oxygen is more in reactant side or product side then add water where oxygen is less.
Step 6 -
- Add H+ ion opposite to where water is added.
Note -
- If 1 molecule of water is added in reactant side then, 2 H+ ion should be added in product side.
- If 2 molecule of water is added in product side then, 4H+ ion should be added in reactant side.
Step 7 -
- Check the number of charge in both reactant side and product side. (If charge is equal in reactant side and product side then your answer is correct).
