Answer:

SiCl4 + H2O ⇒H4SiO4 + HCl

First write the no. of atoms on both the sides of equation.

L.H.S.           R.H.S.

Si - 1            Si - 1

Cl - 4           Cl - 1

H - 2            H - 5

O - 1             O - 4

Now, we will first balance the chlorine atoms by adding constant 4 against HCl. Also to balance oxygen atoms we would add 4 constant against H2O.

SiCl4 + 4(H2O) ⇒H4SiO4 + 4HCl

Again draw the table.

L.H.S.           R.H.S.

Si - 1            Si - 1

Cl - 4           Cl - 4

H - 8            H - 8

O - 4            O - 4

So, the no. of atoms is equal on both the sides of all the elements.

Hence the equation is balanced.

Hope it helps:)
