Balanoglossus is a marine animal found in the temperate oceans. It is a type of worm belonging to the order of Enteropneusta. It is a deuterostome possessing branchial opening and showing affinity to various groups of organisms.
However, the balanoglossus considered an important connecting link between chordates and non-chordates(vertebrates and invertebrates) as they have notochord, gill-slits(branchial openings) and the dorsal tubular nerve chord which are the three man characteristics of chordates.
