A true fruit is a fruit which has grown from the pistil, that is, the female sex organ of the plant.


These fruits are formed by fertilization of pollen in the flowers and have all the accesory parts required like peel, and so on.


Thus banana is a true fruit. But it does not have seeds.


Most of the varieties of bananas do not have seeds in them, and thus they fulfill the criteria of a parenthocarpic fruit.
