Three common features existed among the states of Hyderabad, Awadh and Bengal. First, while many of the largest states were established by Mughal nobles, they were highly suspicious of the administrative systems that had been inherited particularly the jagirdari system. Second, their method of tax collection differed. The practice of his izaradari spread all over India in the 18th century. Thirdly, all these regional states had very good relations with bankers and merchants. These people lent money to revenue farmers, receive land as security and collected tax to their own agents. a close collecting connection between the state and the bankers was evident all in Awadh, Hyderabad, and Bengal.
