Barbara used the distributive property to write an expression that is equivalent to 7 d + 63. Her work is shown below.

The greatest common factor is 7 so 7 d + 63 = 7 (d + 63)

What was Barbara’s error?

Answer:

He has written 7(d+63) where as correct answer is 7(d+9)

Step-by-step explanation:

Factorising 7d + 63,

we get common factor as 7.

7d + 63 = 7(d+9)

We can also check our answer by remultiplying this:- 7(d+9) = 7×d + 7×9 = 7d +63 (the same expression that we factorised)

Hence Barbara's mistake is he has written 63 in place of 9.
