Baron de Montesquieu was the French political thinker and Enlightenment philosopher. He along with John Locke, Voltaire and J.J Rousseau greatly influenced the French revolution. His work " Spirit of laws" and theory of separation of powers influenced British and American governments as well as newly independent countries. So he was the first political philosopher who advocated the separation of powers of executive, legislature and judiciary.
