GIven,

5 men take 9 days for 10 acres

To Find,

The number of days required for 25 men to plough 30 acres =?

Solution,

If we increase the number of men then days will reduce that means

The number of men ∝ 1 / The number of days

Also, if we increase the number of men then the area will increase

The number of men ∝ 1 / Area

In first case,

The total men(m1) = 5

The total days(d1) = 9

The total area(a1) = 10

In case two,

The total men(m2) = 25

The total days(d2) = d1 [we need to find it]

The total area(a2) = 30

By equating their ratio we have,

(m1*d1)/a1 = (m2*d2)/a2

(5*9)/10 = (25*d2)/30

d2*25 = 1350/10

d2 = 135/25

d2 = 5.4

Hence, 25 men will take 5.4 days to plough 30 acres. if 5 men take 9 days for 10 acres.
