Shri Prithviraj Kapoor was born on the 3rd of November 1906 at Samundri, Pakistan. His father was Dewan Basheswarnath Singh Kapoor. He began his career in the theatres of Peshawar and Lyallpur; In 1928, Shri moved to Bombay (Mumbai); and joined the Imperial Films Company. He featured in nine silent movies including Alam Ara,Vidyapati, Sikandar. He founded Prithvi Theatre in 1944, staged highly influential movies, encouraged people to participate in Quit India Movement and Indian Independence. The award he received the Padma Bhushan and the Dada Saheb Phalke Award. Shri died on the 29th of May 1972.
