George Washington always stood against the formation of two political parties. He believed that political parties may tear the country apart and will create bitter arguments.

Even though he was against the formation of two political parties in a country he was pleaded by Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton who were the leaders of democratic party to continue a second term.

They believed in Washington's confidence of running a better country.

There was no political parties when George Washington became president of the United States but emerged during his first term.

A popular statement that made by Jefferson about Washington was “ North and south will hang together if they have you to hand on”.
